About the Texas HO Racing Network
We are slot car hobbyists who organize an annual nonprofit slot car racing series in Lubbock Texas that is open to general public. Our primary goal is to have fun, introduce the hobby of HO slot car racing to a new generation of racers, and provide a public outlet for those who may already race HO slot cars in their homes, but are looking for other people to competitively race with. If you are looking for a fun, challenging, competitive, and affordable hobby, HO slot car racing may be for you. We invite people of all ages in Lubbock and the surrounding areas to come race with us. PARENTS: Please review our Child Protection Policy below...
The Mission of Texas HO Racing Network Lubbock is several fold. Our primary mission is to provide a safe, inclusive, and fun family type atmosphere for our racers. We strive to provide a competitive racing atmosphere mixed with a sense of camaraderie, and good sportsmanship while enjoying the slot car racing hobby. In order to do this, we adhere to the following precepts:
* Act as a sanctioning body that utilizes straight forward, easy to understand, and fair minded rules.
* To provide a slot car racing environment which can not be easily duplicated in the home with the use of large and unique circuits.
* To provide an inclusive learning atmosphere for all racers concerning the various technical aspects of modern slot car racing.
* Set good examples for our younger racers through competition, fair play, and good sportsmanship.
* To expand the Texas HO Racing Network model to other cities in Texas and beyond.
* To associate with like minded HO slot car racing clubs around the world.
* To promote and grow the slot car racing hobby, and a love for the sport of motor racing in general.
* To seek out and create worthy charitable opportunities so the club can give back to the community.
Associations
Texas HO Racing Network actively seeks out like minded HO Racing clubs in the US and around the world in an effort to broaden the appeal of HO scale racing to a new generation of racers, and expand the HO racing hobby. We are happy to assist parties interested in starting their own club based on the Texas HO Racing Network model and associate with your club.
We also seek to associate with clubs interested in the formation of an international sanctioning body for a "HO Big Track World Championship Series". We are currently in discussion with clubs in both the USA and Europe to accomplish this goal in time for the 2015 season. This would enable THORN racers to compete with racers around the world to determine a World Champion in "Big Track" HO racing.

Club Membership
There is no annual membership fee. A person becomes a "Member" when they have attended at least 6 race events in a single racing season. At that time, they will be issued a membership card, and will have full rights accorded a member in good standing with the club, including voting for club officers.
Racing Dates
The Club meets once per month, usually on the first Saturday, for racing activities. Additional meetings may be scheduled for special events. The Club schedule is available on the Schedule page of the website.
Racing Fees
The Texas HO Racing Network is a not for profit club, and there is no annual club membership fee, but we do charge a small fee to race. All monies collected belong to the Club, and are used to pay rental for the facility, provide awards for racers, and other club only business. See "Club Income" below.
2014 Racing Fees:
ADULTS age 16 and up..............................$10
JUNIORS age 15 and below.......................$5
FULL TIME STUDENTS.............................$5 (School ID required)
Club Income
Texas HO Racing Network is a non profit club. All monies collected at races are deposited in a bank account named "Texas HO Racing Network Lubbock". A financial report will be presented to Texas HO Racing Network members in good standing upon request which shows all club income and expenditures. Monies are used to pay rental for venues, equipment required for club racing and expansion, and awards for racers. All monies spent must be approved in advance by the Management Committee. No Organizer, Club Officer, or Member derives any profit from club activities whatsoever. Should the club dissolve, any club owned assets and monies will be donated to a charity, or another HO racing club.
Club Shop
As a service to our racers, the club provides a small selection of new cars and spare parts at our race meets. We do this because there is little to no availability of HO equipment in the Lubbock area. Prices for cars and parts are at cost, and the club does not generate profit from the store. Members are also encouraged to visit the "Links" page of the website for recommended vendors of HO cars and equipment for online purchases.
Club Officers and Management
Club Officers oversee the management and long term development of Texas HO Racing Network Lubbock. Officers are elected at the Annual General Meeting held after the last race of the season. Officers serve for a period of two years, subject to reelection at the end of their terms.
Club Officers are required to meet at least once per year, and will be a quorate if four or more Officers are present. If less than four Officers are present, the meeting can not make any decisions on behalf of the Club.
For 2014 our first election of Club Officers will occur in November prior to the final race event of the season. Thereafter, newly elected officers will schedule a Committee Management meeting which consists of the Club Officers and no less than three Members at Large. Club decisions will be decided by a majority vote of all present, and the Meeting will be recorded in the form of minutes.
The Annual Meeting will include:
* Receiving the Annual Report and Accounts for the previous year.
* Deciding the entry fees for the following year.
* Coming to agreement about rules and racing format for the following season.
* Discuss and plan club related charitable opportunities and events.
* Reviewing the Child and Vulnerable Adult Protection Policy.
* Any other miscellaneous Club business that needs to be addressed.
